God knows you. He even knows your names. It is beneficial that we know Him by His names since this will give us a more complete understanding of Who He is
Aren't we known by more than one name? I'm known as Don and Donald. When my wife wants to get my attention she calls me, Frank" My middle name is Franklin. My Grandmother, and only my Grandmother, called me Donnie.
God too has many names. HE IS (not they are) God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit - the 3 in 1.
He is also ELOHIM. This is plural and indicates God's infinite power. It is used 250 in Scripture always referring to His great power, might, strength.
He is JEHOVAH. Since the name is derived from the Hebrew word, "havah" which means "to be" and indicates being, it referes to God always being alive in the past and in the future and that He never changes. Havah is much like the Hebrew word, "Chavah" which is a verb that means "to live."
He is EL-SHADDAi - God almighty.
He is ADONAI which, like Elohim, is plural. It refers to God as being Lord, Master, Owner, One to be obeyed.
He is JEHOVAH-JIRAH - God Who provides.
He is JEHOVAH-ROPHE - God Who cures, heals, restores in all areas of one's life - emotionally, financially, mentally, physically, relationally and spiritually.
He is JEHOVAH -NISSI - God Who is our Banner of victory in His wars against Satan.
He is JEHOVAH-M'KADDESH-God Who satsifies.
He is JEHOVAH-SHALOM - God our shalom (our peace, health, prosperity).
He is JEHOVAH-TSIDKENU-God Who is our righteousness.
He is JEHOVAH-ROHI-God Who is our Shepherd.
He is JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH- God Who is with you where you are and at the same time where you are going.
He is YHWH (YAHWEH) Since vowels are not used in Hebrew, Yahweh is YHWH in the Scriptures. It is God's holy name. The letters come from a verb "to be". It indicates God as I AM WHOM I AM, as I WILL BE WHO I WILL BE, as THE SELF-EXISTENT ONE. (Note Exodus 3:13-14)
Suggestion: Practice praying the name of God that identifies with your prayer. For instance, If you need something refer to God as Jehovah-jireh. If you need Him to win a war for you over Satan, call Him Jehovah-Nissi. If you need His guidance or His nurture call Him Jehovah-Rophe. If you need His power in your life refer to Him as El-Shaddai. You get the idea. Then comment on any insight you gain from doing this.
